The Curse is Removed
Brief author’s note:- The narrative up to this point has been taken from the log kept by Gul of House Kobra whilst captain of the Despair and from various memoirs and reminiscences of other members of the crew. Unfortunately material relating to the early period of their return to The Valley of the Great Sword is limited to a few obscure references in chronicles of the time. Of course, this was a dangerous time for the renegades and they were probably keeping a low profile so the lack of verifiable material of their actions is not surprising.
The facts gleaned from the few fragments of evidence available amount to this. The party travelled back to the Cronk village to get the God Curse removed from Gul. They encountered a group of Corflu Cultists, or so scholars surmise as Corflu was widely wors... Read more »

Omaha to Pointe du Hoc
Parts Two to Four: The Next Day and Night
The Rangers moved out at first light, eager to reach their destination. They knew that the enemy was somewhere ahead but their exact location was unknown. Carefully they made their way through the bocage, every corner a potential death trap, every piece of open ground a possible killing field. To the Rangers’ relief they made it to their next position without meeting any great opposition.
Again darkness was approaching so the Ranger commanders decided to dig in and wait for daylight. On the other side the German forces were determined to counter attack and force the Americans to withdr... Read more »

Farewell, Isle of Dread
Part2: Isn’t anyone ever pleased to see us?
It had been three weeks since the crew had returned from their disastrous visit to Mora. They had all recovered after the period of convalescence at Tanaroa. Berun and Goll were coming to terms with being less agile than before, but they still had determination and courage in abundance. It was time now to take The Hammer to the salamanders and collect the gorgonite sword, Kalan.
Once again Goll donned the crown and the Despair flew off towards the two volcanoes. In a short while, and without mishap, they had reached their... Read more »

Farewell, Isle of Dread Part 1: Sometimes you just can’t win
The crew of The Despair were in high spirits. The final days of their exile on The Isle of Dread were beginning and they looked forward to returning to The Valley of the Great Sword. Only one matter remained to be settled. Berun had been badgering the party to go and get the Fireball spell from "this wizard I’ve heard about in Mora”. Discussion was heated as to how they were to get to their destination.
There were two schools of thought. On the one hand Berun, Goll and Brun were of the opinion that the adventurers should walk. Berun and Brun argued that they would gain valuable experience during the hike. Brun was especially eager to test his power against the many undead rumoured to be stalking the surrounding jungle. Goll said; "If we fly, we will draw attention to ourselves, when we should be keeping a low profile. We are, after all, about to head back across the Empire. We don’t want to fa... Read more »

Omaha to Pointe du Hoc
Part One: Secure the crossroads
The bulk of the Ranger force entered the battle through an orchard to the right hand side of a farm road. Their objective was the crossroads, but they had a limited timescale. One squad, a recon unit, was using a communication trench. They were faced by an open field overlooked by a farmhouse to their left. The squad in the communication trench crept forward under cover of smoke laid down by the mortar in the orchard. The Yanks were not taking any risks just in case there were some krauts occupying the building. The farmhouse was secured and found to be unoccupied. What a relief!

Tsab Uncovers a Plot
It was a beautiful evening scene. Gul lay on the sand looking at the sun setting over the calm ocean. The orange glow suffused the shoreline and the sun’s rays sparkled playfully on the waves. The sound of the water lapping gently on the beach lulled him into a peaceful reverie. He had recovered himself after his recent bizarre behaviour and he was back in control. All was well. Then something caught his eye. He saw a figure emerging from the sea some distance away and then he was suddenly aware of more and more. They looked like sahuagin, probably out for revenge after the party had stolen the gorgonite horde from under their noses. He placed his hand over the mouth of the maiden lying next to him and put his finger to his lips.

The Hammer of the Great Chariot Maker
Part 2: Beyond The Standing Stones
The crew headed back to the ship. Berun was still insisting on appropriating the fireball spell but the rest still ignored his advice. First they flew to collect the treasure they had buried in the north and then they headed out to where Gul’s vision was leading them. Eventually, after flying over a green carpet of jungle for many hours, they came upon more hilly terrain. In the distance two columns of smoke rose, just as the dream had shown.
"Make for the northerly one and land some distance away so we can approach on foot” ordered Gul.
