Interested in joining the North Ayrshire Wargames Club? Not sure what it’s all about?
We play wargames, board games, card games and pen & paper role playing games.
Well, miniature wargaming is a recreational hobby where players simulate a battle covering a specific historical or fantasy period. Anything from ancient Spartan, Napoleonic, WW2, Lord of the Rings or the grim future in Warhammer 40,000. We use miniatures to represent the land, sea and/or air units involved. Many miniatures wargames are played on a floor or tabletop, with terrain represented by miniature scenery (hills, forests, roads, fences, buildings, etc). Movement of the miniatures is usually regulated using turns and a tape measure, with dice to simulate combat and your troops morale. However, like boardgames, miniature games can also be played using gridded terrain (squares or hexagons) or even gameboards.
We play loads of board games such as space crusade, hero quest, space hulk, swords and sorcery and many more!
If you like pen & paper RPGs we have an ongoing Dungeons & Dragons first edition campaign running. Not an ordinary campaign! An Evil drow campaign!
We play all sorts! If your favourite game or system isn't running we will have members willing to play.
Feel free to come along to the clubs venue at Redburn Community Centre in Irvine, Dickson Drive, KA12 9EW (Across from Irvine Royal, just south of Castle Park Road), Sundays 11am - 5pm to see what this hobby is all about. Tea & Coffee are free.
We're always happy to welcome new members, so come along with friends and/or family and have a quick look, you'll be impressed by some of the scenery and models on display by the current members. Chat with the various warmongers about what their playing or even how to collect the figures, everyone has their own favourites!
Remember your first visit is FREE! A minimum fee is applied to cover the cost of the hall, so please ask on the day, or eMail our club team. |
