I picked this up at the Falkirk Carronade many moons ago(Just a few months really!). I noticed it becuase I wanted one off of E-bay but the prices were extorcionate, for e.g an unpainted one for £20. But I picked it up under-coated and a wee bit bruised for £1.50! Bargain. I also tried out painting a marble base but it looks more like stone, oh well better luck next time!

Nice job Rory!

I luv all the minor touches on the gems, orbs & insignia across the model to give it an overall unique feel. Overall shading is especially impressive to add depth to the model!

The base itself adds a nice SciFi element to the model, which ties in with the Tau race from another world.

Excellent work all round!

Another nicely painted figure. Rory has grasped the use of tans, blues, and greens - shading and washing to good effect.

He also likes the detail - make the figure more interesting.

Rory was trying for a red marble effect for the base after being inspired by James Wappel. At first he over did it having light highlights from all different angles. The grain did not quite flow - should be like veins rather than random. But with a few touches we get this effective and unusual base. I still think it looks more like a highly polish wood rather than marble - but still good.

A warning though. If you want people to admire your figure don't over complicate the base. It should enhance (the red/black showing the tan up in contrast here) and compliment your figure. Also make sure any holes in the base are filled before painting!!

Excellent again +++
