In playing a big game it can get quite messy and trying to figure out which battalion belongs to which Brigade commander or Divisional General. Then it helps, especially with the Allies to know the different stats, and skills the unit has. We just cut each marker out and stuck onto the base with a bit of masking tape. These can be folded under the base if required.
