To All Interested Parties.

To Get The New Campaign Kicked Off I wanted to post a few lines as way of preparation for D-Day( TBA)

In the first instance I want to set some of the initial basic paremeters.

The Operational Theatre will consist of the Frostbite Red Fieldsand Black Fortresses Battlefronts.
Each team will field 5 Companies in phase 1 with a further 2 Companies being added as reinforcements in phase 2
This is the first time that we will have played 2 battlefronts at the same time but it should be fun as well as challenging.

There will be 4 teams which will accomodate 8 players but if there's anybody else out there that wants to join in then you'll be more than welcome.

The teams are proposed as follows:-

UNA/ONI
RED BLOK
THERIANS
COGS/KARMANS

The Companies are required to be made up from Army Books with any additional units found in the Damocles and Frostbite Campaign Books

ANY QUERIES WITH THE RULES WILL BE ADDRESSED BEFORE THE CAMPAIGN STARTS. ANY INITIAL QUESTIONS SHOULD BE PM'D TO ME AND I WILL THEN MAKE THE APPROPRIATE POST ASKING FOR PLAYER'S THOUGHTS.

THIS IS HOW I WANT THIS TO WORK. I WILL THEN ACCEPT ONE POST PER PLAYER ON THE TOPIC UNDER DISCUSSION WITH ANY REASONS WHY AND THEN I'LL MAKE MY DECISION WHICH WILL REMAIN IN PLACE FOR THE DURATION OF THE CAMPAIGN. THIS IS TO PROVIDE CONSISTENCY IN THE CAMPAIGN
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL I THEN GET INVOLVED IN FURTHER DEBATE OR DISCUSSION ON THE TOPIC ON THE FORUM OR BY PM

Happy to take any comments on the above and I'll get some more thoughts posted up tomorrow

Da'Umpire

And I am watching YOU!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Gerry ... Rather than have the campaign drag on forever, could I suggest we look at a shorter time span that will reduce the repetiveness of fighting over the same sectors in the campaign? Say Phase I = 3 Weeks and Phase II = 2 Weeks?

Q1: Each team gets 5 companies between the two battlefields?
Q2: Week I Forces = 2,000AP & Week II Forces = 3,000AP?

Just some initial thoughts ... Walts

Looks good Gerry, biggrin

Though i would suggest only two weeks in phase 1.

And a number of weeks known only to the Umpire for phase 2, to add fog of war.

(Also preventing people from hiding in HQ until the end of the game. ) spiteful

Hero: " You bring balloon animals and i'll hire a clown..... we can make it a regular party. "

Hi

It's worth limiting the 2000pt maps to 3x3 as 2000pts gets swallowed up on bigger maps.

Alan

There is f&*k all cool about 10+ civil engineers running around every battlefield

Yes, Looks good so far, I like Zellaks suggestion with variable weeks in phase 2.

2000pts then 3000pts seemed to work well.

Hi Gerry ... Found this in the FB Rules (Page 75) ...

Transfer (250 MP)*: The player transfers a company from one battlefront to another. A supply line is needed
between the company and its HQ. The company is transported to the HQ on the new battlefront and cannot
move this week. An U.N.A. army can be transferred for only 100 MP.
... will we be able to use this for moving between battlefields? ... Thanks, Walts

Yes we will be using this. This is why I wanted to play the two battlefronts so as to add a strategic element to the game

Hi Gerry ... Will we be able to use any of the other rules from the Damocles Campaign Book (aka DCB) ... http://www.northayrshirewargamesclub.co.uk/load....#ent853 ... apart from unit composition?

For example, the UNA have the following (DCB Page 15) ability ...

VHF Commo (5 A.P.): This high-tech radio allows the White Stars units to communicate easily with less interference. This
way the officers are made even more efficient. A unit whose members are all equipped with a VHF commo generates one
extra LP during the activation phase.
... and the various other armies have odds & bods as well. Any thoughts? ... Walts

so does that just benefit the UNA or do all factions get that.

No, just the UNA have that ability ... but I suppose u could play it that all abilities are available to all armies if we want, or Da Umpire rules on it, but the Damocles Campaign Book does have ability bonuses for all the different armies, each with their own quirks ... Walts
