TURN 3:

French move 3, then allies move. Van Merlin cavalry continue to cover left flank, but leave the horse artillery to cover the right flank. Kempt more or less in place, Pack and Vinke almost. Quatre Bras has the West section occupied by a small Bylandt battalion, and the Northern section now occupied by Pack’s small Highlander unit. The Southern section is still empty.
Bylandt suffers first hit as the left flank militia are defeated by Husson of Bachelu’s Brigade (the result here the victorious attacking battalion goes to the left positioned behind the hedge, whereas the other 3 of Husson’s battalions form up to attack the other Militia to the right), Bylandt loses 1st Militia (2 VPs) and the Horse gun (2 VPs) that was supporting it. The Jagers in Gemioncourt are disordered again but save against hits. The large Belgian line has also taken 2 casualties and disordered from Tissot’s skirmishers. Vinke’s Militia get disordered take Freshly raised test and Panic (need 6s). The British have their First Fire tokens and trying to get ready to repel the French.
French 4 VPs, Allies 0VPs.

In the woods Bylandt’s Jagers at the bridge take an evade command check (pass with 3 successes) and pull back to the woods next to Kempt’s 95th (automatically changing to skirmish order as they enter the woods) to block the way of the swarming French – at the moment Foy’s Legers and the whole of J. Bonapartes division behind them!! Here the units firing at each other suffer unclear target (-1 to hit) and stack with skirmishers (-1 to hit). There is no limit on visibility on woods, just the range of the weapon, this means each need 6s to hit, or 5, and 6s in close range (if not disordered) a modification from French Indian BP2 rules for this scenario.

Vinke’s unit in the woods takes a Freshly raised check and has terror (needs 6s), the other unit in line manages to get a casualty and a Disorder on Husson’s unit taking cover behind the hedge. The hedges give the unit as unclear target (-1 to hit) but this does not stack with the skirmishers (-1 to hit).

Vinke gets a battalion in square and foot artillery to threaten and slow Pire’s advance.

View from East side Pire and Vinke square off.

View from South East Pire and Bachelu in the foreground.

View from French side end of turn 3. Again the Jagers in Gemioncourt causing a Disorder on Tissot’s unit (getting an enfilading shot). In the woods Jamin’s Leger and Bylandt’s Jagers causing Disorders on each other. There was a melee with the Dutch militia of Bylandt being attacked by Husson each having +2 supports. The Militia hold the French then defeat Husson’s unit in their turn (2 VPs), the French supports pass their break tests.
French 4 VPs, Allies 2VPs.
