Hi folks

I blame Andy for this, Andy mentioned Bolt Action last week and Tom has a copy but I've spent most of this week trawling the internet for objective reviews and nearly all have been positive, some have had reservations about certain aspects of the rules but all reviewers gave the rules the thumbs up for being small scale and fast to play, the question being is any one interested in trying them out since a lot of us have 28mm armies that are gathering dust at the moment.

Aye, i have seen videos about this game.

Dont see why you couldn't use 15mm or 20mm instead of 28mm ???

Rick Priestley wrote them, and they come with basic points values and army lists.... like a lot of other systems played at the club.

I dont have a WWII army ( and cant see me building one in the future. ) but i will have a go at most systems..... as long as the EE angry are not making any money from it.

Hi
I have British German and Russian in 28mm and I think Gerry,Tom,AlanC have large collections of 28mm ww2, the games seem to be small and quick (around 2 hours) anything that gets a game done in a day is good for me its small scale with a small number of figures.

No evil empire in site just evil empire escapees.

Good game of Bolt Action today !  happy

Pretty sure we mucked up the part for the Nazi half-track getting destroyed.  sad

But no big deal, still a fun encounter overall.  biggrin

These ex-EE guys are quite good at writing rules.

Have a plus rep on me Pavlov, for introducing this new game.

Enjoyed the Bolt Action game on Sunday, Rules seem simple enough and well thought out.

I know that the guys at the club have a lot of 28mm WW2 figures and armies, the question is which army is there the least off?

There seem to be a lot of good deals on the Bolt Action website right now!

And I'll blame you lot if I buy another army!!!! American!! British/Canadian!! Japanese!! Russian... So many choices!!

Noted on another Forum, each army books for Bolt Action have been written by different people for Warlord, that would explain the rules creep.

When the first version of Epic 40k came out, all the races were designed by different people , this led to massive rules conflict between some races especially the more exotic lists such as the Eldar and Chaos.

lets hope that the Bolt action books don't go down the same line with causing super armies further down the line but it may already be too late!!

True....i remember there being some very heated discussions between Chaos and Tyranid players about which rule had preference.

The Chaos unstoppable power weapon or the Tyranid "ultimate" force field. dry

Just goes to show these things happen.....and not just during games of AT-43.

How historically correct do you guys play? for example do you have any objection to two armies from different periods of the war facing each other?

Could any of the ww2 guys elaborate on why they have moved away from BA?

Has anyone got the new Tank War supplement for BA? or have you guys totally stopped playing BA now?

Not that i know of...

The WW2 crowd tend to use just Chain of Command exclusively now.

But me and Che still use BA for Meta-Wars.

I have no idea what CofC is like or how it plays, will try to find some battle reports to watch, apart from a few issues which will hopefully addressed in the future, I think BA looks a good game and seems popular (apart from at your club that is lol), I don't have the income to be keep switching games so trying to find one that is both suitable, fun and played widely enough not to be restricted on where it could be played.

Hmm looking into CofC a little it seems to be best suited for those who have a wide collection of stuff as the army lists are rather flexible depending on the scenario, a bit like how RoE is, instead of the points costs of BA.
