Have you tried any other rules ? The problem with the evil empire is they bring out a new ruleset every three years.

Aye.... GW is known as the evil empire on most Non-GW forums. Possibly the best rules "so far " by GW. ( ie better than 4th/5th/ 6th /7th) Who knows ?
But a bit of a sweeping statement if you are saying they are better than all other ancient/fantasy rulesets out there!  You should try some other rules ....broaden your horizons.  Thats the thing about wargaming, once you have an army (and i mean a painted one  ) you can then experience different types of game by using different rulesets. I have always used historical rulesets for ancient or fantasy wargaming.
Suppose i just like my fantasy wargames to be historically accurate...at least from a tactical viewpoint.

Maybe you should try some other rules ...so that you have a frame of reference ? How many games have you played with 8th edition ?

Hi Jack...did you see the message on the main page? Gerry will bring in some Empire figures he has painted, so bring in yours and you can batter my beastman army on Sunday. In the event we are short of humans , i believe Ross will lend us some human D&D miniatures. There might be a some other people looking for a game. In that case it would be better if they brought in an army and we run two games. (or three !!! )
