Osprey have been releasing some skirmish rules recently, Ronin a Samurai Skirmish and In her Majestys name a Steam punk skirmish.
The great thing about these is you only need a few figures to play, it states between 5 and 20.
The rules seem simple and the area required is only 3' x 3'.
On top of that they now have another rule set in the pipeline "Of Gods and Mortals" which is another skirmish game but Mythical, this time you need a god figure, a few less god types and followers.
My first thought on this is to use Saga armies with added larger figures "perhaps D&D miniatures and the like", I was thinking of using Skraelings, some Worgs as less daemons and a Wolfen as a god
The Of Gods and Mortals rules are on pre-order at Book Depository for around £8, the other rules are around the same price.
