Have you got a system that you want to do ?

DEMON : " When next we meet, i shall tear you limb from limb...there will be no escape. "

Hero: " You bring balloon animals and i'll hire a clown..... we can make it a regular party. "

well zellak i would have to learn a system so hopefully an easy one! thinking a free one.
I would prefer someone else to run it!

but if i run it i will never miss a game!

Balrog thanks for the heads up i might email him for some campaign ideas and some newbie GM advice,
you too Zellak on a limited basis (don't want to ruin it for you!)

Sounds good to me. I used to love playing Cyberpunk 2020 back in the day but I think it's out of print now. There's a fan site with some resources and reworkings of the rules: http://datafortress2020.110mb.com/index.html.
Can it still be called sci-fi when it's only 10 years away!!!

Walts Update: Hyperlink ... Cyberpunk 2020 ... Hyperlink corrected. Due to the hyperlink having extra full stops, which this website interps incorrectly, the user is directed elsewhere, to a wonky site ref.

Hi CB ... Thanks for the suggestion, I'm sure Gordy will appreciate it. One thing ...

Not sure why it doesn't work - if you search Cyberpunk 2020 on Wikipedia there's a link to Datafortress at the bottom.

I ran a game of Judge D with Iain and Derek in February, just haven't had time to play again since then. I have the original rules plus supplements, so as long as you don't mind going old school then you're free to borrow them (if you want to GM it) or (if you don't) I will try to pull a scenario together.

Cool. Walter has expressed an interest in running the game of JD, so I'll bring in the rules and he can have a look and decide. We shouldn't get off the topic in hand though, which is your sci-fi game. My vote is still for some sort of cyberpunk setting!!!

Hi CB ... Looking forward to doing some GM'ing on the Judge Dredd front! ... "I am da law!!!" vinsent

I'll be PM'ing everyone for figures, floor plans, etc, to give me an idea of what's available and devise an adventure for the new year. hopefully. I'm pretty clued up on 2000AD, but will pull out all the old comic's for some raw material. Those where the days when life was simple and a comic was my world!!!

Having chatted with Ross, he mentioned there was JD bits & bobs about the place, so I'm pretty sure there will be enough stock to get a gsme up and running ... who's in!

As for cyberpunk ... I'm not to clued up on that. Where as Strontium Dog is something I can relate to and see the dynamic's of adventures and bounty runs to different badlands and planets hunting down bounty's, good or bad!

So much choice and so few Games Masters! ... Walts

the games workshop judge dredd rpg was ok, i have the mongoose d20 version but didnt bother with the new version as im not a great fan of the d6/traveler system which it uses (so you need to buy traveler to use dredd or strotium dogg), slaine will probably go the same direction instead of runequest which it used in its last incarnation. if you like comics then there is starblazer adventures rpg too. the d20 modern was a good system if not a little complicated unless familiar with d+d 3.5 but that is now defunct and gone. starsiege event horizon by troll lord games is a good game, its like ad+d 2nd edition rules (same rules as their castles n crusades game) but in space. i personally like the d100 system and have a sci fi and other games written using that system, and as it all comes in one book (basic role playing by chaosium) then its a pretty useful one to buy although you do need to do the work constructing your setting for it etc, i am a little biased though being a cthulhu referee
/ player / fan. savage worlds is a cheap and useful system (£5.99 for main rules) but the setting books can be expensive like soloman kane at around 25 quid.

problem with judge dredd and some of the other 2000ad rpgs is that they often dont lend themselves too well to campaign style play but more one shot, jd especially can be a problem as the judges are rather hard people so playing as a perp is a no no and playing as a judge is quite a power game. saying that dragon warriors is also a game that lends itself more to one shot adventures.

Hi P1fx ... thanks for your thoughts! ... I've actually binned the Judge Dredd RPG for the reasons u mentioned, no "campaign" format and suited more for one-offs. Anyway, I've taken on board Strontium Dog ...

>>> NAWGC - Strontium Forum Link!

... so the players can develop their characters over a period of time and began looking at storylines for the club members who have rolled characters already. Johnny Alpha (& Wulf!) have various "campaign" storylines, so hopefully I'll be able to create the same for some of the players at our club ... Walts
