New thread for those playing in the mini-campaign or for anyone wanting to playtest the idea.

Assault Group 1 LP

Troops who are armed with grenades (usually at +5 AP per man in the unit.) can use this Drill.

When the drill is called. the player nominates 3 men in the unit who then become an Assault Group.

The player moves these figures into contact with each other (this movement does not trigger overwatch).

These three figures now become a temporary special weapon bearer. With all rules that entails.

The temporary weapon bearer may throw grenades as per the usual rules.

The exception being that;

1) the radius is doubled (to 6 cm). (explanation : 3 fighters @2 cm each)
2) only one die is rolled to hit.
3) if it misses it scatters 10cm.

Also : ONi Troopers should be allowed to buy grenades for +5 AP per man. (so Tom can join in the fun.)

Me and Nemesis were talking today at the club and agreed that the current rule ...see above..... is not working to well.

As no one is using grenades even though we have added them to our armies and paid AP for them.

How do the other players feel about this ?

We were thinking that we could nick the new 40K idea on grenades and try that ?

Only one man in the unit can throw a grenade.

It would work like a AT-43 flamer.

Range 25 cm, automatic hit, everyone under the template (3cm radius) gets hit.

Roll for damage according to the pen/dam listed in the army book.

Its a lot shorter range but guarenteed a hit.

Remember the range of flamers is measured from the flamer user to the target miniature.

NOT leader to leader ! (so this would use all the flamer rules.)

End result : a 6 man unit would pay 30 points and a gain a low Penetration flamer shot.

Che ? Zealyot ? worth a try ?

Sorry Pavlov , i just got started on the post and got waylaid by family to post stuff for sale on e-bay.

We are using the 40K grenade rules....only one guy in the unit can throw a grenade. (8" range) happy

But tweaking it to use an established AT-43 rules mechanism.

Bump.

I dont think anyone actually ever threw a grenade during the min-campaign.

So in effect still no playtesting. sad

Here is the latest incarnation we could try.

Only one man in the unit can throw a grenade.

It would work like a AT-43 flamer.

Range 25 cm, automatic hit, everyone under the template ( 4 cm radius) gets hit.

Roll for damage according to the pen/dam listed in the army book.

Its a lot shorter range but guaranteed a hit.

Remember the range of flamers is measured from the flamer user to the target miniature.

NOT leader to leader ! (so this would use all the flamer rules.)

End result : a 6 man unit would 30 points and a gain a low Penetration flamer shot.
