cool Hey campers, when are we gonna hit the mean streets again and make them unsafe for ordinary citizens to walk at night? In other words, why dont we play another cyberpunk game sometime? The one based on the Cowboy game. tommy

With all the stuff thats going on at the moment (D&D/Modern Microtanks/AT-43/FoGF ) i forgot all about that. mellow

Its finding time to fit a game in . Theres just so much good stuff happening . biggrin

The system itself needs a bit of work....there is far to much paperwork involved.

Perhaps if it was more boardgamelike, with cards or tokens for all the characters and abilities (and one shot weapons) ?

Scarily...it might be best to run the whole thing on a laptop.

Alan B mentioned to me on Sunday that he didn't care for the card system 'cos it meant too much waiting around for figures to do anything. Perhaps we could change the game to a more "Traveller" style. Or would that just mean we were playing "Traveller" cyberpunk. Mmm, sounds interesting, Ill think about it! cool

There were probably to many people involved in the first try out game.

It should be much quicker.

Remind me...does Traveller use some kind of initiative system ?

Hey Z ... It depends on what version of Traveller u use ... now there's a surprise I hear u say!!!

I have the latest version by Mongoose, who use 2d6 (plus various dex & skill bonuses) for each player (and NPC on the table) too see who wins iNi on a single model level! I used it in the SD RPG, so it's not too difficult to follow as the baddies where generally clumped together as one, two or three groups to make things easy for everyone.

I don't remember using this system when IanW ran the wee scenario on the spaceship some time ago with the Classic Traveller rules ... so it's best to make up your own iNi concept and see how many cyberpunks come on board for some quick gameplay!!! The idea of a quick print stat sheet with all the punks details in front of you would be the way to go, but I've never played cyberpunk in any format, so I've no idea what the score is with the game.

While on Arran, we played Necromunda quite a few times with street gangs and scenery, with objectives, and I remember that being pretty easy to follow. Some of the model buildings look like the ones we used on Arran ... are they Necromunda buildings?

I'm open to other ideas.....

If people would rather not use the card activation system then what ?

roll a d20 for every miniature ? (We have plenty at the club)

we could place order counters (epic : charge/advance/first fire/snap fire/fall back)

reveal the counters and then activate by highest roll on d20 ?

So , as i suggested at the club, we roll 1D20 for each miniature. And they go in order (high to low).

What happens if two minis have the same score ?

same rules for rest of stuff as last time.

2 actions ; which can be:

move 6 " (or climb ladder)
Aim (which gives a re roll )
shoot
fight melee (both sides fight - like in space crusade)
Recover (if knocked down from blast)
use skill ( ?)
medic skill....2 actions.
Overwatch.... 2 actions.

shooting ranges 8" /24"/ 48".....3 White Dice/2 WD/1WD

Cover +1 armour.

Aiden Gang 12 Turf ; Industrial Estate
Ross Gang 3 Turf ; Riverside
Rory Gang 4 Turf ; Airport

All the gangers have already been rolled for (combat type that is.)

There are 60 gangers (that respawn when killed back into one of the Gangs; roll 1D12)

There are 40 hired guns (that respawn back to one of the gang Turfs; roll 1D8)

There are 100 abilities/weapons/cyberware/defects/traits which usually respawn to a random character when the owner is killed; roll 1d100

Combat Types

Leader ; can act as player wishes.

Psycho ; one of his actions must be to move towards the enemy.

Flanker ; appears deep on the enemy zone, can act as player wishes.

Sniper ; select a building ...sniper moves and climbs the building and then shoots down.

Camper : stays in gangs deployment zone. Acts as player wishes.

Buddy ; is assigned to another character and copies his Combat Type. Must try to remain within 3" of the character.

Good idea from Mark to tie in the respawns with the turfs....simple when you think about it. cool

I had fun reading the FoG rules ... senile ... and ended up with a headache because of the complexity of them! wacko ... Valts
