Sorcerer HQ 100 points ???

Dark Apostle HQ 100 points ???

30 cultists, Autopistol + CCW (troops) + 3 Heavy Stubbers 135 points

Mauler Fiend ( Heavy Support ) 125 points

Mauler Fiend ( Heavy Support ) 125 points ( total 1125 points ) could someone with CSM codex check this ?

Taking it as no squad has any marks of chaos and the hqs are as they come and that it's current points (6th ed codex) then the points would be -
Sorcerer - 60 pts
Dark apostles - 105 pts
30 cultists (with auto pistol and ccw) + 3 heavy stubbers - 145 pts
30 cultists (with auto pistol and ccw) + 3 heavy stubbers - 145 pts
10 csm with missile launcher - 155 pts
10 csm with missile launcher - 155 pts
Mauler fiend - 125 pts
Mauler fiend - 125 pts
Mauler fiend - 125 pts

Brings you to 1140 pts

60 points left to spend....so how much to upgrade sorcerer to level 2 and get spell familiar ?

This would be for summoning demons.

Given that i should get a 3 on average from the warp charge roll and would be level 2 magic level.

this would give me 5 dice with a re-roll for conjuring demons ....right ?

Have you any experience with conjuring daemons rules ?

Is it worth the effort ?

It looks like fun, and would throw a spanner in the works of most peoples battle plan. devil

Extra mastery level is 25 pts per and spell familiar is 15 pts (brings you to 1180) spawning things is really good as it provides more targets (and if you spawn pink horrors more mastery levels!)

Got some beastmen that i would proxy for bloodletters. cool

so....20 points left ...is there any way to protect the Sorcerer from "perils of the warp" ?

You could get a gift of mutation on each of your hq's (10 points a piece) to add to the randomness? Or possibly give them a mark of chaos?

Dont really think they are up to much.

What kind of Chaos force have you used to take on Tau ?

Mutations don't protect against perils although they can provide extra wounds, extra stat values (toughness initiative) it can even provide eternal warrior. I tend to not take vehicles as I think they die too easy and waste your points (the only exception being a heldrake or two as they are cheap and effective). Also I tend to take a smaller amount of tougher troops rather than large mobs (as tau can get a lot of blasts and ignore cover and saves).

Aha...now that would be good. happy

Thousand sons might be effective as they are AP 3 shooting, and i believe they reroll 1's to hit.

The Tau firewarriors dont carry anti-tank weapons, once you take down their armour, they are at the mercy of your big guns.
(this is from when i used to play IG armoured company in 4th edition)

Sadly thousand sons don't re roll ones (they get a bonus to their invuln save) their icon gives them soul blaze which can be ok at times but sucks usually, daemons of tzeentch get to re roll failed saves of one. Noise marines might be better as they ignore cover and can still pack an anti vehicle punch (and salvo) plus you can give them feel no pain with their icon. Tau mainly duck behind cover so you either can't shoot them or it's hard to kill them as 2+ cover on his vehicles. So anti cover will be very useful e.g heldrakes and noise marines.
