Battle of Nach Stalingrad The Counterstroke Scenario 1, Little Wars TV

Setup before German places troops showing deployment zone
The terrain map was designed on Inkarnate and printed on a vinyl fabric as 4’ x 4’ Flag from Temu. Terrain map basic layout courtesy of Little Wars TV – Nach Stalingrad scenario with the FFofT34s rule adaption.
I find with 10mm figures the 2D maps are the easiest to manoeuvre bases. Getting them printed on Temu reduces the cost considerably and allows for quick setup and easy storage. I have passed this and the other map designs to Little Wars TV for you to get a free JPEG download.

The specific Scenario details can be found in the Nach Stalingrad free download off of Little Wars TV. In a quick synopsis the Germans have 8 turns to clear the town Pokhelbin, and get an armour the Northern road where the Russian reinforcements arrive (shown by the red arrow), or eliminate all Russian armour. The Russian force intends to stop this and can be HIDDEN deployment at the start 232 in woods on left, 227 in Pokhebin, 85th Tank turn3, 216 turn 4.
This was start to our weekend of campaigning, to get 2 scenarios done on Saturday and 1 on Sunday. Colin and Mark alternating as German or Umpire, Simon Russian, me as Umpire / Russian advisor.

The German players Mark and Colin laid on the blistering attack on the Russian forces to take on QC tests at 6s, and unsurprisingly they fail! Losing the tanks so early on was a big loss to the Russian defence. Who only had two mortars and no off table artillery. The Germans get 10km & 2D6 to advance the distance track, and chose in What next "To Stalingrad" and get a bonus 2D6, they roll and get 23km. As we wanted to get the Germans going on the scenario campaign we got the German players to roll 1D6 at the start on a 1 it was a Russian victory, on a 2-4 a minor German victory, on a 5,6 a major German victory. They rolled a 5 so this is why the Russians lost a medium T34 battalion (4 tanks), it made a big difference. So have 28km with the Probe bonus.
We had the game setup and played between 11am and 2.30pm. Then stopped for a quick lunch, sort out and label the next scenarios troops and off again! |
